Sorbet Makeup Launch

Hi My Angels

So those of you that follow me on Instagram and Facebook know that on the 2 March I was invited to the Sorbet makeup Launch at Sorbet La Lucia. It was  a fabulous morning with drinks and a mini breakfast which I thoroughly enjoyed. On arrival we were each given a card with a number on it where we had to fill in our details. In the store there was the Sorbet makeup stand with all the testers on it as well as stations where girls where applying foundation, lipstick, eyeshadow and highlighter.

After this we had a skincare demo by Dermalogica  and makeup demo using all the Sorbet products by the lovely Jacky Jet  and Makeup by Prelisha.

After we got to try all the products out by each station and get our shade matched. I happened to be the shade noisette in the bare faced foundation however it wasn’t the foundation I picked because the consistency felt heavy and thick on my skin although it was said to be a more natural medium finish. The entire sorbet range is amazing boasting almost 90 different products and over 20 shades in foundations. At the end of the event we all got an amazing goodie bag and I even walked away as the lucky draw winner.

Face First Foundation

I was most curious about this foundation and decided to pick it up. It is said to be a serum foundation which has anti aging properties so its skincare and makeup in one product which is amazing. This is also one of their silver star products which is sorbets top products. Now this foundation is a really great foundation and surprised me by being a lot more full coverage than expected. You only need 3-4 drops for a medium to full coverage makeup look which is amazing and is also a lot thicker in consistency than I expected it to be. I do like this foundation however I noticed that it does oxidise on my skin not by a lot but it does look slightly darker after application. I also noticed that this foundation feels like I have product on my skin and sort of sits on top my skin instead of becoming one with my skin which I personally prefer but if that is not a problem for you then you should like this foundation.

Price R289,95

Eye to Eye Eyeshadow quad

I got this eyeshadow quad in the goody bag that I received after the event. It is the in pink tones called showgirl. There are 4 different quads in total. This is a good pallet that is really travel friendly.  The eyeshadows look like they are baked.  They don’t swatch that great but they do look good on the eyes. These shadows are quite mediocre and the price is kind of steep for a quad so I think I will be saving my money on this one.

Price: R215

Loud Lashes Waterproof Mascara

I purchased this on the day as I was looking for a good waterproof mascara and figured that I might as well give it a shot. Well.. how do I put this nicely…I really regret that decision.  This mascara formulation is very wet and doesn’t do anything to my lashes also the wand is way to big and thick for my lashes. Also the mascara smells like paint which I don’t feel is exactly safe to be putting near my eyeballs so all that being said this is the only mascara that I have tried from the Sorbet range and I think that I need to give the others a chance before ruling out all the mascaras but as for this specific one its a hard pass.

Price: R149.95

Shimmer and Glow shimmer bronzer

These remind me of the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick and I would say it is a really good dupe. This is a very versatile product as you can used each shade individually as eyeshadow or blend them together as a highlight shade. You can even use either the lighter side or the darker side for a custom colour.  I wouldn’t really call it a bronzer as it is very shimmery and can rather be used as a blush on lighter skin tones but on darker skin tones it is definitely a highlight. My favourite is using this as a subtle highlight shade on my bare skin.

Price R199.95

Overall I love the concept of the Sorbet makeup, they have done a good job with the shade range and the products that they have brought out however I do feel like the prices are slightly higher than drugstore pricing but I guess with it being an exclusive range it does warrant the price. I think that I need to try more products but from what I have tried I am impressed.

As for the Sorbet La Lucia Makeup Launch I think that Neerita and Taynita really out did themselves. The launch event was incredible and I really enjoyed every second of it.

So until the next one my loves

New Drugstore Releases

So my first blog post, I didn’t know where to start, the procrastination was real

So my first blog post, I didn’t know where to start, the procrastination was real and everything seemed to be stopping me. However I got over my head space and here we are. I hope you enjoy.

Being a self proclaimed beauty addict, I take it upon myself to raid the isles of Dischem and Clicks to see whats new on the shelves. Many of times there is not much happening but recently there have been all sorts of new products hitting the shelves and I can definitely say that I am excited.

I recently went on an unexpected drug store haul and managed to scoop a range of products that seem to be new. South Africa unfortunately seems to get the short half of the stick in terms of makeup. Make up brands are very limited as well as the ranges within the brand are limited as well. I wish it were the opposite as we have so many different skin colours and types (we aren’t called the rainbow nation for nothing), which make up brands should have taken advantage of. Things seem to be looking up for us a little, it seems, so rant over…for now.

For those that do not know me, I am indian and have a deeper skin tone. My shade reference in Mac is an inbetween NC 42 and NC 45. So thus being the caramel, toffee goodness that I am, some shades are a hit and some are a major miss so please bear that in mind, the shades and products that don’t work for me, may work for you so carry on doing that, my blog is just a guide to help people and give them a more informed approach to a product or topic.

So onto the haul, I manged to pick up quite a few new launches from Revlon and a some from Maybelline.

Revlon

Shades from top to bottom: 705, 710, 720 and 730

A week ago when walking into Dischem I noticed a new display and saw that they had new cream eye shadows. I immediately had to swatch and feel these for myself and headed straight for the testers. There are 12 cream eye shadows in total but I only picked up four that I thought would be the colours that I am most likely to use. I picked up shades 705, 710, 720 and 730. There are names for these shadows however they are on the outer plastic which I threw away. The eye shadows are super creamy and are very pigmented, they are very similar to Macs paintpots. I love the ease of these shadows, they blend really well with powder shadows and are great on their own. However I have very oily eyelids and eye shadows naturally crease for me so I recommend using an eye shadow primer so that these glide on and don’t budge. They retail for R89,99 in Dischem and R99,99 in Red Square.

DSC_0082

The second item I picked up from Revlon was this Revlon Irresistible kiss balm. There are six different flavours of this balm, if I am not mistaken, and all of them smell delicious. I only bought one flavour to try out, which was the shade sweet cherry, and I must say I’m not very impressed. Apart from the smell and SPF factor being the only things I liked, the product is not very hydrating at all. It leaves a slight stain on the lips but doesn’t last long. Being a balm, it leaves a glossy look to the lips. I would suggest to stick to the normal Labello or Lip Ice range instead of forking out R54,95 for this unless there is a particular scent or shade you fancy.

Maybelline

DSC_0046

DSC_0058

DSC_0081

The Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquers are also new at the drugstore and I must admit these are incredible. I only have 2 shades out of the 6 shades (There could be more) that they brought out but after testing them I want them all, I do hope that they are consistent throughout the range. The shades that I have are Retro which is a vampy red-brown and Charmer which is soft pink. Retro I can pull off on its own and sometimes pair it with a lighter lipstick however Charmer makes me look washed out on its own and I have to use a lip liner or another lipstick under. They feel like a gloss on the lips but are extremely pigmented and opaque, you just need one swipe across the lips. When they dry down a little they turn into more of cream finish with a shine which reminds me a little of true melted down cream lipstick. They are not sticky or tacky and are actually very hydrating. These can be used on their own or as a gloss on top of another product.

I also saw that Maybelline brought out blush and bronzer pallets but I didn’t pick them up. Let me know if you would like me to do a review on these.

So these are my new drugstore finds, let me know if you girls see anything new at the drugstore that you would like me to test and review, I would love to hear from you.

Loreal Les Chocolats Liquid Lipsticks

Hi My Angels

Hope that you are all amazing, I am finally getting back into the swing of things. Thank you all for your patience, continuous support through this absence as well as the endless love that you have showed me. I am truly grateful for all of you.

Hi My Angels

Hope that you are all amazing, I am finally getting back into the swing of things. Thank you all for your patience, continuous support through this absence as well as the endless love that you have showed me. I am truly grateful for all of you.

So last year May, I saw Tati review the new Loreal les chocolat liquid lipsticks and she absolutely adored them, I never thought that they would bring them to South Africa, so you best believe that when I saw an email that Foschini stocked them, I ran down to the mall so that I can play and swatch. So originally I picked up two shades which were cocoa crush and box of chocolates. After wearing these shades, I ended up going back and getting two more shades which were tasty ruby and volupto choco.

DSC_0074 (1)

What I adored about these lipsticks is the formulation, they are so comfortable once they have dried down. When you first apply these you might be confused and think that it is a gloss because of the gel formula but once dry they are completely matte. The best way to apply these is with a lipliner either darker or the same as the colour of your choice as it just makes it easier to apply. Once applied do not, and I repeat, DO NOT smack your lips together, rather apply one even coat and wait, should you need to smoothen something out, rather use your finger. The reason for this is that, during the dry down, the formulation becomes really sticky so if you smack your lips together, it ends up looking uneven and patchy.

Something else about this formulation that I love is how long lasting this liquid lip is. I used cocoa crush for my cousins wedding last weekend and no lie, I applied this lipstick at 2pm and it stayed on until midnight without any touch ups. I ate, drank and partied and this lippie never budged a bit. I wouldn’t say that it is smudge proof because it does smudge a little bit it is definitely long lasting. The only thing about this lippie to keep in mind is that it requires oil to remove it. Normal micellar waters and make up wipes do not work on this.

Lets get to know more about the colours, there are seven shades in total. Four of them are nude tones, either brown or pink based. There is one dark brown shade and lastly two red based shades. These shades are very flattering and can be made to work on all skin tones which I love.

DSC_0077 (1)DSC_0079 (1)

Shades From Bottom Up

The first shade that spoke to me is cocoa crush which is this beautiful deep merlot red, once I swatched it, I realized that I had nothing in my collection like this shade. It is truly unique. This is a very deep shade so using a lipliner and cleaning up your edges with concealer will help with the overall look.

Tasty Ruby is a true blue based red that will work on any skin tone. It reminds me of a liquid lipstick version of Mac Ruby Woo. It is a stunning shade and I am so glad I picked it up.

Volupto Choco is an orange-brown nude that is a very flattering every day. It can be worn alone or with a liner. I sometimes use this shade as a base for some of my ordinary lipsticks as it makes them last forever.

Lastly Box of chocolates is a cool tone pinky nude which I adore. I generally lean more onto the warm spectrum of shades however this was unusually flattering. I always use a lip liner with this shade as it looks a little pasty on its own for my skin tone. But you can pair this with a brown, burgundy, red or even deep pink liner and all work beautifully. This is a very versatile shade and can be changed up depending on the liner you use.

These retail for R150 each at Foschini however you can definitely save using the TGF rewards card vouchers. Overall these are beautiful shades, they take some getting used to but are worth the money. I just hope that they continue to stock them.

Until the next one my loves

A general life update

Hi My Angels

Guess who is back?! I am alive peeps but life has just got the best of me at the moment. I thought I would get into the swing of things by now but it’s crazier than ever. Between work, my personal life and my health, I have been through the most. I almost feel like I am battling to stay a float at times.

I really want to get back into blogging again, however I feel like people don’t like reading anymore. People gravitate more towards videos or audio as opposed to the written word. Call me old fashion but I love a good book and still enjoy quite a few blogs. I mean should I continue to write or would you guys like to see more videos from me? Perhaps here or on Instagram? (I do not have the courage to do Youtube, lol).

Social media has almost become an enemy to me for the past few months, I don’t relate to it anymore. I don’t know if this has to do with me maturing or getting old, either way, I just don’t feel like posting anymore as well as I cannot stand the fake posts, the so called extravagant lives that people live mean time they are broke. It makes me so mad. I have always believed that you should live within your means and live your life to the most with that and because of that.

When I was blogging, I wanted to share everything that I did on social media but at some point, I realized that I am doing more damage than good, I felt disconnected to everything, I was obsessed with the likes and the posts so much so that I wasn’t living in the presence of the situation. I got a reality check from my boyfriend who made me realize that sometimes its the moments that we don’t share that are our most special. Sometimes social media is used as validation or means of approval from society, the more likes then the better you are.

I really hope that you guys are all well and having an amazing day. Please let me know below what you want to see more of.

Ofra Feelin Myself Pallet

Hi My Angels

So many of you know my love affair with Ofra cosmetics, I absolutely love their liquid lippies, their formula is probably one of the best formulas on the market.  Now I have been wanting to try the highlighters  for months if not years, however I was stuck between the shades Rodeo Drive and Blissful and these highlighters are quite up there in price so I knew I couldn’t afford both so when this pallet was released as a pre order and I saw that both shades were available, you best believe that I scooped it up as fast as possible….Click the link for more

Hi My Angels

So many of you know my love affair with Ofra cosmetics, I absolutely love their liquid lippies, their formula is probably one of the best formulas on the market.  Now I have been wanting to try the highlighters  for months if not years, however I was stuck between the shades Rodeo Drive and Blissful and these highlighters are quite up there in price so I knew I couldn’t afford both so when this pallet was released as a pre order and I saw that both shades were available, you best believe that I scooped it up as fast as possible.

The pallete was available on pre order and I knew my experience with the Ofra team will be smooth and fuss free so I initially DM’ed them to tell them I was interested, they explained the entire process to me in detail and once I confirmed they sent me an email with a pre order invoice as well as they explained that I needed to pay upfront for my order. They even included my Ofra discount code on my invoice which I thought was really sweet of them to remember (Like I always say, its the small things that keeps  me going back). After my proof of payment was sent, the team kept me updated either via email or dm and I received my order around one month later.

DSC_0166 (1)

When I finally received this palleted, I was super excited and could not wait to swatch and play. My initial impression was that the highlighters were super smooth and buttery and like nothing I have felt before. They felt like a cream although they were a powder highlight. In  this pallet there are 3 shades in total which are Rodeo Drive, Blissful and a new shade called pillowtalk. Rodeo Drive is a beautiful champagne gold highlight with a neutral undertone that goes well on every skin tone. Blissful is a rose gold highlight with a silver/cool undertone that does work well on most skin tones and pillowtalk is a shell pink icy highlight with a silver/cool undertone, this is more for fairer skin tones. The size of each pan is 4g and they are the mini sizes as well as the pallet comes with a tiny mirror which makes it perfect for travel.

DSC_0168 (1)

So having tried and tested these highlighters, I have to say that they are beautiful. They are super pigmented and metallic. These are super intense and definitely not for the natural girls. My favourite shade has to be Rodeo Drive which is a shade I can rock no matter what look I have on. What I also love about this palette is that the pans are refillable so you can replace shades that are used up. This pallet retails for R550 and with my discount code I paid R385. This pallet was really an amazing find as I love the fact that when I travel I have the option of 3 highlight shades. The refill 4g pans retail for R250 however with my 30% off code you lovelies will only pay R175.

This was a limited edition pallet but I am sure that Ofra will do something like this in the future again, given the success of this pallet. But if you are keen to try their products, you will not be disappointed, you can purchase from their website which is http://ofracosmeticssouthafrica.com/ and also don’t forget to use my discount code for some savings.

So until the next one my loves

Clarins Double Serum

Hi  My Angels

Many of you must have picked up the Cosmopolitan local blogger issue. I think it released around March / April. I happened to pick up this issue and inside there was a tiny little sample size of the Clarins Double Serum along with a write up of all the great things that this serum  does for your skin. What caught my attention and intrigued me the most was the fact that this serum contained turmeric extract and bring Indian, we all know how much our mothers would rave about the stuff.  So I figured why not give it a shot.

I can definitely say that when I used this sample, it felt amazing on my skin and was really hydrating and nourishing and the smell is so yummy (it smells nothing like other Clarins products which usually have that powdery floral kinda smell) which made me want to purchase the full size.

So I hopped on to the Clarins website to check the price and I was in shock. This serums retail price was definitely up there, it retailed for a whopping R 860 for 30ml and R1160 for 50ml. Somehow my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to purchase it to see what difference it made to my skin.

DSC_0154 (1)

I picked up the 30ml. I have used almost half of the bottle now and its lasted about 2 months now. I only use this product in the morning as I use my Dr Dermal IntenCE antioxidant plasma at night. What I like about this  product is that you can customise the amount of product that you want dispensed so I generally use less in the morning and more at night (if I do use it at night). I was also intrigued as this year I will be 25 and I wanted to investigate an anti aging serum seeing that prevention is better than cure.

What Clarins promises this product will do:

  • The skin is firmed
  • Wrinkles are visibly smoothed
  • Radiance and evenness are restored to the complexion
  • Pores are diminished
  • Fights signs of aging

The product itself is super lightweight on the skin and the consistency is a mixture of an oil and a serum which sinks in amazingly into the skin. Used alone as a serum it makes my skin feel super smooth and very hydrated, I love how my skin feels using this especially now in winter where my skin tends to lean on the drier side. This product give the skin a beautiful luminosity and gives that glow from within look about, which is why I love mixing this serum into my foundations. It makes my skin look incredible and the foundation looks super natural and my skin looks healthy.

However all that being said, I didn’t notice an overall improvement to my skin, my pores remained the same size and the texture was the same regardless of whether I used the serum or not. The only noticeable difference is when the serum is being added to my foundation and the hydration that it gives.

The question is would I repurchase this serum?  The answer: No, not at the moment. The reason being is that  I am hooked onto the Dr Dermal serums and my skin is not responding to the Clarins serum other than the hydration. I think that once I hit my thirties I will definitely consider this serum as apart of my skincare routine.

I think that if you are in your thirties this is a good serum to look into if you are willing to pay the price.

Until the next one my loves

Dove Haircare Campaign with Beauty Bulletin

Hi My Angels

So about a month back I received a massive package from Dove and Beauty Bulletin, and when I say massive, it was ginormous . I knew it was a big campaign but nothing braced me for the amount of product that I actually received. In total I received about 32 products ranging from shampoos to treatments, which was amazing. I had to pick out the products that most interested me and then the rest, I could pass on to friends or family….

Hi My Angels

So about a month back I received a massive package from Dove and Beauty Bulletin, and when I say massive, it was ginormous Surprised smile . I knew it was a big campaign but nothing braced me for the amount of product that I actually received. In total I received about 32 products ranging from shampoos to treatments, which was amazing. I had to pick out the products that most interested me and then the rest, I could pass on to friends or family.

Pure Care Dry oil Shampoo

DSC_0186 (1)

So I had a choice between the oxygen moisture range or the dry oil range and decided on the pure care dry oil range.  The shampoo itself was different in the sense that its a clear liquid and literally looks like oil, but it foams up and does clean the hair quite well. The shampoo worked incredibly well on my hair, it left my hair feeling nourished and hydrated.  It also smells amazing. I also noticed that it did not strip my colour or change my colour in anyway but rather left my feeling soft and smooth. Something I thought I would mention is that I do suffer with a very dry sculp and thus dandruff is a problem so I would sometimes use my dandruff shampoos in conjunction with this shampoo.

Price: Shampoo 250ml – R79.99

Available : Dischem, Clicks and Pick n Pay

Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner

DSC_0187 (1)

Now I have to admit that I hardly used the conditioner as I was more interested in testing the treatments as I was most curious about those. However I did use it a few times, the Nourishing oil care conditioner has many oils that is infused into the product. This product is said to focus on long term care for your hair and focuses on damaged, frizzed as well as fine and dry hair. What I enjoyed is that it is also for colour treated hair. This conditioner smells incredible and almost sent me back to my childhood as it smells like a vanilla milkshake. This is a good conditioner in my opinion it leaves the hair feeling really silky and smooth and gave my hair a really shiny and healthy look.

Price: Conditioner 200ml – R49.99

Available : Clicks, Dis-chem, Pick and Pay, Spar and Checkers stores

Pure Care Dry Oil Treatment Mask

DSC_0188 (1)

I did try this treatment a few times and was quite impressed with the results at first, not only did it smell incredible but it worked really well however I wasn’t as impressed as I was with the Nourishing oil care treatment mask. I felt that although this treatment worked well initially, after a few uses it started to dry my hair out the more I used it which I found strange but when I use it one in a while, it worked amazingly so I think for my hair using this once in a while is best.

Price: R105.99 (200ml)

Available: Clicks, Dis-chem, Pick and Pay, Spar and Checkers stores

Nourishing Oil Care Treatment Mask

DSC_0190 (1)

Now this has got to be my absolute favourite product from all the products that I received. This treatment has got to be the best thing that has ever happened to my hair. When I initially used this product, I dried my hair like I normally would and straight away noticed that the frizz and bushiness that normally is there was drastically reduced. I then proceeded to straighten my hair and noticed that my hair straightened and set like a dream. My mum even asked whether I went to a salon (even though she was with me the entire morning) , so that in itself was amazing. My hair loves this treatment and it leaves my hair feeling incredibly smooth, silky and healthy. I also noticed that my hair styles very well whenever I use this treatment and it is also safe on colour treated hair. I will definitely continue to use and repurchase this product.

In fact this product happened to rescue my hair, last week I happened to have an appointment at my hair salon. I was getting my colour redone and half way through my appointment the lights went off in the salon (hello load shedding), now my colour was done but my treatments were not so my hair was feeling course and smelt really bad. I washed my hair the following day and used this treatment and my hair felt like brand new. Honestly, I wouldn’t have been able to tell that I had my hair coloured.

Price: R 79 (200ml)

Available: Clicks, Dis-chem, Pick and Pay, Spar and Checkers stores

I also shared my products with family and friends and the reviews were phenomenal, everyone was impressed with the Dove products. They loved how luxurious  the product looked and smelt. They also told me that their hair felt super soft and smooth and were really impressed by the range as most of them had never tried it before. Many mentioned that they would definitely repurchase the products after they have finished theirs.

I would like to give a huge thank you to both Dove and Beauty Bulletin for allowing me to be apart of this campaign, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

So until my next one loves

My Beauty Room Salon Caprice Experience

Hi My Angels
I hope you all have had a fantabulous week. Soo as many of you know that I recently won a free nail treatment through rainbowbloggersza in collaboration with the beauty room. I had won a treatment at the beauty rooms newest salon which is Salon Caprice which is situated in 23 Swapo Road (Broadway), Durban North.
I also happen to have an awesome surprize for my Durban followers in this blog post, if they read right until the end….

I also happen to have an awesome surprize for my Durban followers in this blog post, if they read right until the end.Winking smile

So after I had won I was contacted via email by the owner Candice, who was very sweet and accommodating in setting up an appointment for me. On the day of my appointment, I arrived at the salon and was greeted by the staff at the front of house, they directed me to the nail tech on duty which was the lovely Marbeer (I really hope that I am spelling her name right). She was really sweet and very professional. Marbeer, then proceeded to ask me what colours I like and what I am thinking about doing to my nails. I had booked for gel on my natural nails, so I initially wanted a pink shade with some sort of a glitter accent nail, however there was only one pink that was too sheer for me so I settled on the shades coral, which is as the name states, and crystal, which is a champagne glitter.

Other than the shades, I wasn’t specific as to which designs and colour placements as I was completely open to doing anything to my nails, I like to allow nail technicians to do their own thing as I am not generally fussy about the design on my nails. I prefer to choose my own colours and focus on things like the nail prep, the application and the overall appearance of the nails. I am no nail expert but I have had my nails done a lot and know what looks good and what I like.

Marbeer, started on the nail prep and chose square shaped nails, she was very gentle on my nails which I loved as I cannot handle the feeling and noise of filing (it sounds like nails on chalk board to me and gives me that weird feeling in my teeth, am I weird?), while the nail prep commenced, I was offered something to drink. I decided on some coffee since it was a long day and I needed a pick me up. My coffee was brought to me in a beautiful mug and saucer, now many of you at this point are probably wondering why I am mentioning this, the reason being is that whenever I go to salons they usually bring my coffee in a small cup, which I am grateful for, don’t get me wrong however it always leaves me feeling a little lack lustre and wanting more. So when I received this mug, you best believe that I was doing an internal happy dance. It just goes to show that sometimes its the smallest attention to detail that truly makes a difference in a customers overall experienceRed heart

After the nail prep, the usual base gel coat was applied, three coats of colour and the designs were done and eventually the top coat was applied. I really liked the design work as well as the nail stamps that were done to accent my nails and Marbeer always ensured that I am happy at each stage of the process, which I appreciated. Overall my nails look stunning and I am thoroughly impressed by the way they came out. I would have however liked the salon to have a bit more of a selection of colours and glitters but I can overlook it seeing as though they are new store and building up their inventory.

I would give my overall experience a 4 out of 5, this includes all factors that I have mentioned above. I would definitely be back at the salon to get my nails done. Now the part that most of you came here for… I have an amazing 20% discount code for all my ladies that live in Durban. Milani Conceal and Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation

Hi My Angels

I really hope that you all have had a fabulous week and are keeping warm, I know that this weather has been playing us. I am one of those creatures that feel  cold no matter what, it could be in dead of summer and if there is a slight chill in the air, you can bet I am reaching for my jacket. But enough of my ramblings lets see get onto the review…

But enough of my ramblings lets see get onto the review.

So I picked up this foundation about a month ago because I wanted to try a new full coverage foundation, I was actually eyeing the new Bobbi Brown Foundation however they initially shade matched me wrong and then when I went back to get a sample of my correct shade, they never had samples to give so I finally gave up with that foundation. I, then remembered the Milani foundation, I wanted to try this foundation out for ages and I figured that it was now or never so I purchased it from the Milani SA website.

So I placed my order through www.milanisa.co.za and received it about a week later due to some issues with a public service strike but that was not their fault but rather the courier companies but Milani did call me and keep me updated through it, which I appreciated. My first impression when I pump out this foundation was it is really thick and is very similar in consistency to the Mac prolong wear concealer. I generally like to blend this foundation with sponge but it does work well with a good blending brush however even though I use a brush I usually go over with a sponge. The foundation has a really nice demi matte finish and is full coverage. I, however, am not about that full coverage look for everyday so I usually add a little oil or serum to my foundation to sheer it out for a more luminous natural finish with medium coverage.

Overall I absolutely love this foundation, it is the perfect shade for me and I love how it looks on my skin. It even photographs amazingly so you can bet that I will be rocking this foundation for the upcoming weddings that I am attending. It covers up all my pigmentation and really looks flawless yet natural on my skin. The price is definitely right on this product as it retails for R150 and shipping is R60 so the total would be R210 which is a fair price for the quality of the product. This has slowly become my new go to foundation whenever I need my skin to look incredible.

So until the next one my loves

Now I received these Dr Dermal products a few weeks ago however I wanted a chance to be able to test and try these products. I have very sensitive skin so depending on certain factors like weather and ‘that time of the month’ my skin tends to get more sensitive so I prefer a few weeks of testing so that I get the most accurate results.

So I received two products from Dr Dermal. One being the Micro retinol 5 Rich Repair and the other is the IntenCE Antioxidant Plasma. These were sent to me after I told them my skin concerns were my enlarged pores, pigmentation and dark circles.

Micro retinol 5 Rich Repair

MicroRetinol5RichRepair-1

According to Dr Dermal, this product is said to be a “potent product with 5% micro encapsulated retinol will stimulate cellular renewal and reduce the appearance of your pores by stimulating the collagen production which will plump the skin. It also reduces the appearance of pigmentation and blemishes over time. This product is to be used only in the evening, and you must use a sunblock during the day”.  My thoughts on this product is that it is very strong product for my skin especially considering how sensitive it is.

When I first applied this product to my skin, it honestly felt like a normal moisturizer. I only used one pump of this and it was enough for my face as it is a very thick formulation. After a few hours I did notice a fine break out across my face which I learned is completely normal for first time retinol users. The breakout lasted a day or two which is normal and after that my skin was super soft.  This product reminds me of a good facial, you need to break out before you start to see the results. After a day, my skin was really beautiful and glowy and the pigmentation had reduced slightly.

I would continue to use this product again but I think that it is geared towards more mature skin. The price is R895 which is expensive but this product does show results it can be purchased here.

IntenCE Antioxidant Plasma

Intence Antioxidant plasma

Now this has become my absolute favourite night time serum, Dr Dermal says this product is a “potent high dose Vitamin C serum is perfect for preventing further pigmentation as it inhibits tyrosinase which is a precursor for melanin production. To be used morning or evening. The high concentration of Vitamin C will work hard against free radicals to give your skin a noticeable glow.” My thoughts completely echo what Dr Dermal promises from this product. My skin always feels super soft after I use this and I notice that my makeup always looks better after I have used this product the night before. I love how noticeably clear and radiant my skin looks the following day as well. I am honestly blown away by this serum and would definitely continue to purchase it. The serum is quite watery and around 4-5 drops is an ample amount to cover my face. I like to press this serum into my skin and then use my moisturizer after.  This serum is also quite pricey but is in the same league as the Estee Lauder Advanced night repair as well as the Clarins double serum. You can purchase this serum here for R875.

Dr Dermal is a new range in the market however there products are definitely worth the hype. I would love to try more of there stuff in the future.

I did promise a little surprize for you loves, if you are interested in purchasing Dr Dermal products you can use my code AGU5 for a 5% discount sitewide on www.drdermal.com. I think this is incredible and I will be using my own code in the future to buy my serum.

So until the next one my loves

Hi My Angels

Maybelline has recently been upping their game in South Africa with regards to bringing in the latest products. They have finally brought the Fit me Foundation along with a few other newer products and now they have brought in the concealers and highlighters.

Fit me Concealers

Now the Fit me Concealers I have used before, I originally got the fit me concealer from India. I picked up the shade medium 25 but it was way too light for me so I barely used it. But now that they have brought in 7 shades to South Africa and I picked up 3 shades which were 35,40 and 45. I use 35 for highlighting, 40 as a brightening everyday shade and 45 which is my the match for my skin and used as more of a corrector.

These are very watery concealers and when layered up they can at most give you a medium coverage however when paired with a higher coverage foundation then it adds to the coverage. It is a beautiful concealer depending on what you are looking for. The concealers retail for R99 and can be found at either Clicks or Dischem.

You can read more about these concealers here.

Master chrome Highlighters

There was much controversy when these first reached South Africa. These generally retail for $10 in the USA which roughly is R120 however when they were brought down to South Africa these retailed for a crazy R250 which is more than double the price so you can best believe  I was a little shook and not in a good way. However after watching Youtubers rave on about this highlighter, curiosity got the best of me and I didn’t just buy 1 but I bought 2 (insert the monkey covering his eyes emoji).

I picked up the shades molten gold and rose gold.  There is also a 3rd bronze shade that is available and is  suited for darker skin tones. The highlighters are very rich in pigment and are quite creamy. They are not glittery at all and give the skin a beautiful glow. These highlighters can be applied lightly for a subtle glow or intensified for a blinding glow, by either layering the colour or even wetting the skin or brush with a little Mac fix +.

Molten Gold is exactly as the name states, it packs a beautiful champagne gold finish that is surprisingly beautiful on almost all skin tones. However, being an Indian girl I have to be a little biased and say that this highlighter compliments our skin tone the best. It picks up on our yellow undertones and makes us look like glowing goddesses.

Rose Gold is more of a peachy pink gold shade. I do like this shade on my more natural makeup days. I think this shade looks very different on every skin tone. Both shades can be amplified to be more intense and do look incredible on the skin.

All in all Maybelline South Africa seems to be stepping up it’s game with its new releases and I am excited to see what is next.

Until then my loves

LA Girl Ultimate eyeliner

Hi My Angels

I seem to starting my blog posts off the same way, which is apologising for missing a post. I am so bad at time management, I always have been. Its not that I don’t love blogging.  Its just that I need to be inspired to write. For some people they can plan a time and just begin but for me, I need to have a clear and calm head space before I start and also be inspired by a product…

Hi My Angels

I seem to starting my blog posts off the same way, which is apologising for missing a post. I am so bad at time management, I always have been. Its not that I don’t love blogging.  Its just that I need to be inspired to write. For some people they can plan a time and just begin but for me, I need to have a clear and calm head space before I start and also be inspired by a product.

Whatever I feature on  the blog, whether good or bad, needs to be a product that I am inspired to post about and if there isn’t one then there isn’t something to write about. That being said, in order not to miss a post I have considered doing rant posts on makeup or things happening in the beauty industry if you would be interested in that then comment below. But onto the review that you came here for in the first place.

I first heard about these eyeliners on snap chat. I was watching Tamanna Roshan (Dressyourface) opening a series of press drops that she received and these were apart of them. I watched her swatch them and list her favourites and knew that if she is recommending these then they must be worth the try. So I waited rather impatiently before I finally spotted them on the shelves at Dischem a few months ago. When I saw them my heart did a little leap of excitement and then slumped into the pit of despair as I realised that my budget wont allow for it that month. But I waited and at first chance I got, I went back and grabbed two colours.

Now about the product, it is said to be a gel formula that is budge and smudge proof. There are 8 shades in total, all of which are available in South Africa. The eyeliner itself is one of those retractable eyeliners that doesn’t need sharpening and also has a very precise tip which makes it easy to line the water line and lash line. The price is a little on the steep side and retails for R129.90.

I picked up the black and brown shades. Now I think everyone knows the love affair with an Indian girl and her black eyeliner. We love a good intense black liner that makes our brown eyes pop. I personally also want an eyeliner that doesn’t fade, smudge or run by the end of the day. This eyeliner does everything I need an eyeliner to do and is beautifully smooth when applied. It is also super rich in pigment. The brown eyeliner is the first chocolate brown eyeliner that I have come across and works just as incredible as the black. Most brown liners are way too dark and show up almost black which I don’t like but this is a rich chocolate brown that is absolutely perfect. I love wearing the brown smudged in my waterline with a brown eyeshadow, it adds such an amazing smokey feel to any eyeshadow look.

If you are willing to spend a little more money for incredible quality then I highly suggest that you  pick these eyeliners up. I am eager to pick up a few of the colourful shades in the future to see how they fair.

So until the next one my loves
