Hi My Angels

Hope that you are all amazing, I am finally getting back into the swing of things. Thank you all for your patience, continuous support through this absence as well as the endless love that you have showed me. I am truly grateful for all of you.

So last year May, I saw Tati review the new Loreal les chocolat liquid lipsticks and she absolutely adored them, I never thought that they would bring them to South Africa, so you best believe that when I saw an email that Foschini stocked them, I ran down to the mall so that I can play and swatch. So originally I picked up two shades which were cocoa crush and box of chocolates. After wearing these shades, I ended up going back and getting two more shades which were tasty ruby and volupto choco.

What I adored about these lipsticks is the formulation, they are so comfortable once they have dried down. When you first apply these you might be confused and think that it is a gloss because of the gel formula but once dry they are completely matte. The best way to apply these is with a lipliner either darker or the same as the colour of your choice as it just makes it easier to apply. Once applied do not, and I repeat, DO NOT smack your lips together, rather apply one even coat and wait, should you need to smoothen something out, rather use your finger. The reason for this is that, during the dry down, the formulation becomes really sticky so if you smack your lips together, it ends up looking uneven and patchy.

Something else about this formulation that I love is how long lasting this liquid lip is. I used cocoa crush for my cousins wedding last weekend and no lie, I applied this lipstick at 2pm and it stayed on until midnight without any touch ups. I ate, drank and partied and this lippie never budged a bit. I wouldn’t say that it is smudge proof because it does smudge a little bit it is definitely long lasting. The only thing about this lippie to keep in mind is that it requires oil to remove it. Normal micellar waters and make up wipes do not work on this.

Lets get to know more about the colours, there are seven shades in total. Four of them are nude tones, either brown or pink based. There is one dark brown shade and lastly two red based shades. These shades are very flattering and can be made to work on all skin tones which I love.

Shades From Bottom Up

The first shade that spoke to me is cocoa crush which is this beautiful deep merlot red, once I swatched it, I realized that I had nothing in my collection like this shade. It is truly unique. This is a very deep shade so using a lipliner and cleaning up your edges with concealer will help with the overall look.

Tasty Ruby is a true blue based red that will work on any skin tone. It reminds me of a liquid lipstick version of Mac Ruby Woo. It is a stunning shade and I am so glad I picked it up.

Volupto Choco is an orange-brown nude that is a very flattering every day. It can be worn alone or with a liner. I sometimes use this shade as a base for some of my ordinary lipsticks as it makes them last forever.

Lastly Box of chocolates is a cool tone pinky nude which I adore. I generally lean more onto the warm spectrum of shades however this was unusually flattering. I always use a lip liner with this shade as it looks a little pasty on its own for my skin tone. But you can pair this with a brown, burgundy, red or even deep pink liner and all work beautifully. This is a very versatile shade and can be changed up depending on the liner you use.

These retail for R150 each at Foschini however you can definitely save using the TGF rewards card vouchers. Overall these are beautiful shades, they take some getting used to but are worth the money. I just hope that they continue to stock them.

Until the next one my loves
